1983 AIME Problem 10


The numbers 1447, 1005, and 1231 have something in common: each is a four-digit number beginning with 1 that has exactly two identical digits. How many such numbers are there?


Leading zeroes must be inputted, so if your answer is 34, then input 034. Full credit goes to MAA for authoring these problems. These problems were taken on the AOPS website.
